Hi there, just a quick one to let you know that I’ve changed the title of my Substack to reflect the content a bit more accurately.
I didn’t really know what this newsletter/blog was going to be about when I first started it - I just wanted to have somewhere to share my experience of going back to university in mid-life, hoping it might inspire others to do the same.
Since then it’s settled into a pattern where I ask myself a question relating to my MA research on Viking-age Moray in Scotland, and explore it as far as I can. So essentially, every post is a rabbit hole that I’m investigating at the time of writing - with some leading to interesting findings, and some turning out to be dead-ends.
If that still sounds like your sort of thing, then great! I’m hoping to go on to a PhD after this MA, so there should be many more rabbit holes to come. It’s lovely to have you along for the ride.
If you’re not sure that long-ish and deeply obscure posts about ninth and tenth-century Scotland are your thing, then please don’t feel bad about unsubscribing. (Unless I can persuade you that early medieval Scotland is the thing that’s been missing in your life…)
Thanks very much indeed for subscribing thus far, and—if you’ve decided to stay—look out for a new post soon!
A very appropriate title change! I can relate.
