Hi Andy, Ruth's dissertation is unpublished, but she did present findings from it at the Pictish Arts Society's annual conference last October. If you're a member you might get access to the recording, if one was made?
Hi Fiona I am a trustee of the North of Scotland Archaeological Society (NoSAS) and would like to share your fascinating blog with the NoSAS community. I am well aware of the stone and live across the firth in Rosemarkie. Regards Tim Blackie
Hi Tim, thank you for commenting - I'd be very happy for you to share the blog. I'm a regular reader of the NoSAS blog and very much appreciate the work you're doing.
Great article thank you and reminded my that I should have posted the photogrammetry on to the Highland HER. Andy Hickie worked on this before lockdown and found carvings both sides - there’s more on our Facebook page Lorna (Petty & Ardersier Community Heritage) and on sketchfab. https://www.facebook.com/450047071750132/posts/2734515773303239/
Thank you very much Lorna - I must say I saw the Sketchfab model after posting this, but couldn't make out anything on the other side. Now I've looked with the Matcap view and I can just about make another cross, as you say. Interesting! It looks like the "sword marks" are just below the left-hand arm of it. I'm not on Facebook but will ask someone to have a look for me. Thanks again for commenting, much appreciated!
A very interesting article, Fiona. Is there anywhere that I can read Ruth Loggie's paper?
